    Hey Gavin,
When using the Rift, did you try turning around to look out the back window of the Clio? The hatchback is missing on mine! Maybe it’s a detail level setting. Pretty funny though. It would probably save some weight!

Haha Paul I’ve not tried it in RF2 to be honest.
The weight saving would explain why the rear of my car always feels so light mind.

Who altogether here is racing in VR?

I am obviously, but who else is? be good to see what kind of mix we have between monitors and VR.

I’d love to pick up VR set, but with a PC that just might barely run it and a wife that doesn`t stop spending money (plus kids and mortgage), I’m out!!

I`ll settle for the triple 17″ cheapo screens that i have.

Bit like you Kris but the kids have grown and left :), so 3 x 27 here and some freebies from work… Not had a chance to try VR yet as not sure about my dodgy eyesight being good enough lol.

Meh, my kids are only (Just turned within last few weeks) 8 and 12, so I’ve a while to go yet before they bugger off and let me have a man-room.

Guys, I honestly can’t praise VR enough. Yes the resolution sucks compared to monitors but that’s like it’s only downside, well apart from the price but that is coming down all the time but if that’s still not low enough you can find Pre-owned you can find for less than £300 from a store (CEX), and I’ve seen some sell for less than £250 on eBay, which is a big improvement over the £550 launch price of a Rift.

Buy one, you won’t regret it you’ll soon sell that triple screen setup. I can’t race on a screen any longer that’s for sure.

I took the plunge and bought a used DK2 for £80.

Arrives tomorrow. I know it wont be ‘next level’ VR, but for £80 it was worth trying, even if i end up selling it on in a week.

Let you know how i get on! 🙂

sounds interesting Kris, hope it doesn’t make you faster,…
If I decided to get VR I would still keep my monitors for nostalgic reasons….

    Q. If you are reading/writing a letter is there a chance of suffering whiplash in VR… 🙂

    Whiplash? depends if you sneeze!!

It was super easy to setup, and despite my R9 390 already having 3 monitors plugged into it, plugging the DK2 into the HDMI didn`t cause me any issues (was expecting at least one!).

Tried IL2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow and my god, i was tracking planes for fun. While flying i got the odd sensation of false gravity pull (mind playing tricks). That was weird.

Tried Project Cars 2 and again, super awesome looking around while driving and being able to check your surroundings so quickly and realistically. Im sold on VR, i truly am.

The DK2 itself is a bit shit in terms of hardware, as the resolution is low and the screendoor effect is hard to ignore. Images are not super clear, but iknew that when i bought it and this was purely to see if A) my PC could handle it, B) If my brain/eyes could handle it and C) How cool it would be.

I wear glasses, and they weren`t very comfy while wearing this headset, but i imagine that would change with each headset and if it was a huge problem, id even consider getting contacts for gaming lol.

Time to save up for the Pimax 4k then . . . . (sorry for the long post)

Good to hear Kris, ref gravity pull does one need a seat belt.
Never heard of Pimax before now, I have just seen it online for about £260, how does it compare to the Vive or the Rift, price wise it is very tempting.

Hi Kris, I have read and seen many tube vids on Pimax, not all good. I am interested still in VR but the Pimax 4k seems to be problematic with racing sims, especially on the motion side… I will keep an open mind right now and investigate further. Thoughts ?
